Day 1: The Sunset Social

Arrive on Friday afternoon and head straight to Smooth Rapids Outfitters.

• The Launch: Catch a late-afternoon 2-mile float from Pepper Branch Park back to the home base. The low autumn sun hitting the changing leaves creates a reflection on the water you won’t see any other time of year.

• The Deck Scene: After your float, don’t load up the car. Walk upstairs to the Smooth Rapids Grill. Grab a River Monster Sandwhich and a local craft beer, and settle in on the deck to watch the sunset over the river you just paddled.

Day 2: The Self-Guided Explorer

Saturday is for finding your own rhythm. Head to Riverfront Park to use the Hive Paddlesports kiosk.

• The Caffeine Kick: Stop by The Cafe at Tree City for a seasonal latte. It’s the perfect spot to scroll through your river photos and plan your return trip for the winter “Deep Chill” cavern season.
